News out of Shoreham: There's a new course superintendent at Tallgrass.
Management at the links-style Gil Hanse design announced recently that Jonathan Semmig is the course's new super after four years as the assistant superintendent at the Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton. Semmig also worked previously at the Garden City Golf Club and Colonial Springs Golf Club in East Farmingdale.
“Jonathan’s golf course management experience is an asset to Tallgrass,” says general manager Phil Tita. “We are confident that he has the knowledge and dedication necessary to enhance the conditions of our Gil Hanse-designed gem and grow its stature as the premier links-style public layout in the tri-state area.”
Tallgrass is one of Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play in New York for the third straight year, and is ranked second among Long Island courses behind only Bethpage Black. In March, Hanse was selected to design the 2016 Olympic golf course in Rio de Janeiro. For more on Tallgrass, check out the course flyover.
