Golfing Magazine put together a Long Island Dream Golf Club in its Fall 2008 issue, a collection of the area's finest 18 holes and its top off-course facilities. Made up of ten private and eight public holes from as far west as Garden City and Great Neck, and as far east as Montauk and Greenport, the Dream Golf Club is a 6,881-yard monster from the tips that ends with the Island's only par-6.
Every Monday through February, GolfOnLongIsland.com will feature commentary from Golfing Magazine editor Terrence Jordan on the holes on the public side of the Long Island Dream Golf Club, with accompanying photos by Jim Krajicek and Brian Elder.

"This demanding par-3 plays even longer than the yardage, thanks to a green located well above the tee box and an ever-present stiff wind blowing off Great South Bay, which sits directly behind the hole. The back-to-front slope of the green helps hold shots that are able to make the climb. The Connetquot River borders the hole, adding to the already breathtaking view that is best seen from atop the green. Making par on this difficult hole will leave golfers feeling on top of the world in more ways than one."
The fifth hole at Timber Point Blue was also submitted as a reader favorite back in October. AD of Valley Stream wrote:
"It overlooks Great South Bay and has bunkers in front on the left and the right. Wind is a big factor here and is usually a one- to two-club change depending on the direction. With water to the left and fescue to the right this hole is my favorite for the level of difficulty as well as the need for accuracy, which varies in my game from day to day."
