The Lido Golf Club in Lido Beach will host its annual Ryder Cup tournament next Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25. Lido's Ryder Cup combines alternate-shot, best-ball, scramble and match-play formats into a two-day team and individual competition.
Registration is open until Tuesday, October 20. Any player with a valid USGA Handicap Index at Lido as of October 14 is eligible to take part. Entry fee is $125 per player and includes reservation fees and a Lido Ryder Cup jacket and hat. Visit the Lido Golf Club website or call (516) 889-8181 for an application or additional information.
Wind is a major factor at this waterside 18-hole course that sits between Reynolds Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. Players must contend with the channel and a series of ponds and inlets throughout most of the back nine. The course was selected by Newsday as one of the Island's best public courses in 2008, and its double-carry 16th hole is part of Newsday's Long Island Dream 18.
