Golfing Magazine, Long Island's top regional golf mag, published its annual Long Island Dream Golf Club in its recent Fall issue. Each year, magazine editors select the best holes in Nassau and Suffolk, plus the finest clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop and practice facility. The 2010 Dream 18 is a 6,636-yard par-71 that features only six public golf holes, all on the front nine. Both shores are represented -- Harbor Links up near the Long Island Sound; Timber Point along Great South Bay -- as are the old (Timber Point's 1920s-built Blue #6) and the new (Hamlet Wind Watch's recently redesigned opener).
Beginning next week and continuing through the winter, Golf On Long Island will feature each of the Dream Club's six public holes along with commentary from Golfing Magazine editors. The magazine is published five times a year and can be found at all Long Island courses and golf retail outlets, and is also available by subscription. Check out the magazine's Free Golf Program, which includes a certificate for free green fees at area courses beginning in April and a one-year magazine subscription.
You can also review the 2008 Dream Golf Club and 2009 Dream Golf Club for more information on some of the Island's other fantastic public golf holes.
