Want to give the junior golfer in your family a head start in learning and enjoying the sport? The teaching staff at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington invites young golfers age 6 to 16 to participate in its 2011 spring and summer golf camps.
Spring golf programs begin in late April and run through June. Each week, the staff focuses on a different aspect of play until the program ends with skills competitions and prizes. The spring camps are $160 per child for four weeks and $290 for eight weeks. Check the Harbor Links website for available program schedules.
Harbor Links summer golf camps begin at the end of June and last until the start of September. Separate programs are available for junior golfers age 6 to 9 and age 10 to 16. The younger groups will be under the direction of James Hong, a Top 50 Junior Instructor as selected by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation. (Golf On Long Island dropped in for a lesson with Hong back in September 2008 and came away with some great swing tips.) Weekly programs are four days long, three hours per day.
Older groups will work with instructors at the range and on the course. Programs include segments on course management, rules and etiquette, and culminate with a two-day "Junior Scramble" team tournament. Morning, afternoon and all-day programs are available. Check the Harbor Links website for available 6-9 and 10-16 program schedules.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For information on programs, schedules and prices, or to download an application form, visit the spring camp and summer camp pages on the Harbor Links website.
