On days when the focus is more on practice and repetition rather than double-fairway holes and merciless rough, the 40-stall driving range at Harbor Links is a more appealing destination than its Championship Course neighbor. Private lessons and group clinics are offered, and a prepaid range key is available for high-volume swingers.
Golfing Magazine selected the driving range at Harbor Links for its 2011 Long Island Dream Club. The Port Washington course is no stranger to the mag's annual fantasy layout -- #4, #6 and the pro shop have all made the cut in recent years. Here's Golfing Mag's take on the practice facility:
"Harbor Links' driving range takes care of everything a golfer needs when getting ready for a round of 18. With 40 stalls, eight of which are covered, golfers can practice all day into the night as the range is lit up for evening use. The stalls are double-sided where one side is used by golfers and the other is for instructional programs. Rates are quite reasonable as well, with a jumbo bucket only costing $15."

What a joke this is. Any range that has mats should not be praised.

Not to mention the cheap, thin mats that sometimes have holes in them.
