It's a four-peat for one Long Island foursome.
Bethpage Black, Bethpage Red, Tallgrass and Montauk Downs cracked Golfweek's list of best public courses together in 2010, and three surveys later -- the 2013 best-in-state rankings were announced by the magazine earlier this week -- the quartet remains intact.
Golfweek's 2013 list of the Best Courses You Can Play in New York is topped, as usual, by the Black Course at Bethpage State Park, followed by two Binghamton-area courses at the Conklin Players Club and the Links at Hiawatha Landing. The other three Long Island representatives fall in line a few spots below, with Tallgrass and Bethpage Red dropping one spot each to #10 and #11, respectively, and Montauk Downs moving from #13 in 2012 to #15 this year.
Bethpage Black also made the top 25 in Golfweek's Best Classic Courses list, settling in at #21 for the second straight year. Earlier this winter, the Black Course landed at #42 in Golf Digest's list of America's Greatest Golf Courses and #8 in the Greatest Public Courses ranking. And on a local level, the park was recently voted "Best Golf Course" in yet another Long Island Press "Best of LI" poll.
