Town of Hempstead residents interested in playing in the sixth annual Supervisor's Cup Golf Classic have until next Friday, September 6 to register for the annual late-season tournament hosted by Kate Murray and the town's Department of Parks
and Recreation. This season's Classic is
scheduled for Wednesday, October 2 at the Lido Golf Club.
The
tournament is open to all town residents but limited to 144 golfers determined by lottery. Registered names will be drawn at the Merrick Road Park Golf Course on Thursday, September 12. Twenty
alternates will also be selected. Entry fee for lottery winners is $15.
(There is no cost to apply.) Rain date for the event is Wednesday,
October 16.
The 144 golfers who tee off in October will receive range balls, motor cart, continental
breakfast, barbecue lunch, prizes and refreshments in addition to 18
holes at one of Nassau County's most popular courses. Shotgun start is
scheduled for 10 a.m. and format for the event is four-person scramble. Awards will be given out for longest drives, accurate drives and closest to the pin. The winning foursome will receive the Supervisor's Cup.

It's been a memorable year for the Lido Golf Club since it hosted the Supervisor's Cup in 2012. The course was battered by Hurricane Sandy but was able to reopen for play in March. For more on the Lido Golf Club, check out the course flyover.
