Great Rock Golf Club, now finishing its first summer under new ownership, is offering rates as low as $39 for the rest of the season. The $39 green fee is available after 1 p.m. on weekdays and includes cart. Morning golfers pay only $49 on weekdays.
Weekend rates start at $69 in the morning and drop to $55 after 12 p.m. and $40 after 4 p.m.
Word has it that the new owners and Great Rock's preserved management and maintenance staff have kept the course in peak condition, even after its brief closure last winter. The early-August rainstorm that flooded parts of Long Island with more than a foot of water dropped about nine inches in Wading River and washed the sand out of many of Great Rock's bunkers. Those traps have since been replaced with fresh sand. The course will be aerated in October.
