Skydrive Golf Center in Farmingdale will close for business at some point this year, as indicated by signs posted around the facility. Closing date will be announced when available.
Some services at the facility have already been discontinued in advance of the closing, including the sale of lesson packages and bulk tokens. Customers can still purchase buckets and arrange for single lessons.
Best known for its two-level driving range that's somewhat of a landmark on otherwise flat, character-free Route 110 near Republic Airport, Skydrive also includes a mini-golf course and small arcade/party area. The facility has been a winner and frequent finalist in the "Best Driving Range" category of the annual Long Island Press "Best of Long Island" survey.
Nearby alternatives for Skydrive customers include Bethpage State Park and the small range at SUNY Farmingdale just north on Route 110.
