Add Stonebridge Golf Links to the list of Long Island golf courses taking extra non-contact precautions to keep players safe on and around the course. According to head pro Iain Wilson, the course is implementing the following changes:
- Golf carts are being disinfected before a round and after
- Cups have been raised so no flag contact is needed; ball hits metal cup - considered in ("Good feedback" so far)
- Pro shop moved to open area and disinfected multiple times an hour
- Door left open for less contact
Not far away in Hauppauge, Simplay, the indoor multi-sport facility with golf simulators and leagues, has closed until further notice.
Timber Point Golf Course -- a Suffolk County muni -- is delaying its 2020 reopening until April 1. The other three courses in the Suffolk Parks system are still on for their originally scheduled March 20 reopenings.
